All chaotic and twirly

I've been making hats and scarves for my friend Emily. I finished the second set, and they're getting ready to head over to Shanghai tomorrow. Thought I'd get some pictures first. The hat is a cloche style and the scarf twirls round and round on itself. I will probably never make this scarf again. Had I thought about the basic construction of the scarf I would have realized that the number of stitches in each row grows exponentially and therefore, takes longer to finish. Not a good project for the impatient.

On a side note, doesn't Handy Manny look swell?

My scarf

I so infrequently make something for myself that when I saw this scarf pattern, I had to make myself one. I chose purple...big surprise. It's Vanna's Choice in Purple Mist. I love it and wear it all the time. I get lots of compliments on it.

Christmas gifts

So I'm a little late on the posting. Oh well. It happens. What you're looking at is a scarf that I made for my friend Emily that is living in Shanghai. The colorway is Cherry Chip. It's done from this pattern. I had made one for myself and loved how it turned out so much that when I suggested to Emily that I make her a scarf, I decided to use the pattern. Now Mom wants one.

While I was working on the scarf, Emily requested a hat to go with it. I'd never made a hat before, but told her I would give it a shot. Here's the result. This pattern works up surprisingly quickly and is so cute.

See, even Scarlett approves!

New blog

I've started a blog to show my finished objects. The bar on the side of this blog was just getting too long. It's a work in progress. I haven't transferred anything yet, but I will. Keep checking...if you're at all interested.

Navy and Denim

I did it. I actually finished the afghan I had pulled out as a UFO when all hell broke loose with the hubby's heart. Even I must admit, it turned out better than I hoped. I kind of thought it might be pretty plain and boring, but I think it's rather elegant. In a masculine sort of way, that is.

It's just a simple DC, working in the back loop only to give it that ridged texture. (Also makes it easy to do without counting.) Then I did a DC border all the way around. Here's how the corners turned out.

I'm thinking this one goes to my nephew because my sister-in-law expressed interest in it. Chalk up another FO!

Hey, Deb...

I got a lovely pattern for the "practically hyperbolic dishcloth" from my blog friend, Deb. You can check out samples of the dishcloths here. So, Friday afternoon I tried out the pattern. Here's the result.

Then, Saturday, I took the finished dishcloth over to show my family. My mom reminded me of something. Hey, Deb, check this one out. I did it about 20 years ago and it's been residing under a lamp on my mom's dresser for that long. She must really love me!

Log Cabin is finished

Here's my finished log cabin afghan. It took me so long because I had to take a medically indicated hiatus in the middle. But it is finally finished.
I must say it is disturbingly square for what I imagined it would turn out to be. The finished product measures 54" x 58". I used up quite a bit of my scrap stash on this one. Of course, I'm still left with a ton. But I'm making progress.
I don't know if you can see it or not, but there's an edging of reverse single crochet around the edge. No matter what I did, the pictures of it didn't turn out. But it is my new edging of choice.

Seaside Scarf

This is one of my favorites. I love the color so much. It measures 4" by 8'. It's amazingly soft and snuggly. You could feel it around your neck.

Another finished scarf

My cousin tells me these are all the rage. I did one for her. This one measures 26" in diameter and 12" high. It goes straight over your head and bunches around your neck. Does it looks like it wants to come live with you?

Stephanie's new scarf

This thing measured right around 8 feet. 4 inches by 8 feet. Boucle yarn. It was painful, but it turned out beautifully. I love making things for friends.

Pineapples

Here's a pattern from Vanna. I love the way this turned out!
And here's the pineapples close up.

And here's the edging. It's a stitch I'd never done before and I'm so thrilled with the way it turned out!

Hubby ripple pictures

Here it is people. Pleasantville in crochet.

"Holey" scarf

This is another finished scarf without a home. If you feel it needs to live with you, feel free to contact me. The scarf measures 4" x 20" but I could duplicate it and make it longer this time around.

One skein scarf

Here's a scarf I completed that is one of the ones that launched my "business". It still has no home. If you would like to own it, contact me for purchasing information. I am making and selling these scarves. Do you have some of those hard to buy for people on your Christmas list? The scarf measures 6" x 50".

No longer a UFO

I'm so excited. This is my first finished object that I've been able to post to my blog. Check it out! It's a scarf I made for my sister-in-law's birthday. I am rather pleased with the way it turned out. It's over six feet long with the border. And I think it might be quite a while before I work with boucle again. Of course, never say never. Comments? Suggestions? Requests?
