I be busy!

It's been a long day. Heck, it's been a long weekend.

Saturday night the munchkin started throwing up. She threw up twice in two hours, so we went right to the suppositories. It's to the point where she hates the sight of a rubber glove. I can't say I blame her. The medicine made her sleepy, but she still had a restless night with me in the chair. She seems to be fine today. She's eaten several things, and so far, everything has stayed down. That's a relief.

Then, I spent a good portion of the day doing housework. I cleaned the tub, toilets, did dishes, did laundry, cleaned floors, dusted, vacuumed, etc. I also made dinner. Glad to know that the bulk of the housework is done so that I can relax this week.

Now, for the fun stuff. I've been doing a lot of reading this weekend. I've been reading for my work book group. I also grabbed The Fred Factor. It's all about giving an excellent service experience every time. Boy, can I relate. I made a phone call yesterday where I didn't get great service, and then another one a little later where I did. That second time, I talked to a Fred.

I decided I needed to finish a UFO this weekend. It might still happen, but I'm not counting on it. I pulled out a scarf I had started a couple of months ago. You can check it out here. I got into row 5 of 7 and figured out I'd made a mistake about 2 rows back. So, I frogged it. But the yarn I'm using is beautiful. It's a variegated I've had hanging around for a while, but never found a solid to go with. I'm planning to at least get back to the point where I started frogging before going to bed.

The munchkin has had a bath and is ready for bed whenever I can make that happen. She had a long nap, so who knows when she'll actually be ready.

Maybe I can actually come up with something profound to write about one of these days. I do have an idea. Give me some time to see if it comes to fruition.

Sorry for the few posts lately. Ever just feel like you don't have it in you?

Whew!

It's time to take a breath. The worst is over. Hubby is home from the hospital. We're all doing well and adjusting. It's been tough though. Thanks for all the kind thoughts you sent our way.

More later. It's time for a nap. Hope you're all doing well.

Put a fork in me

Because I'm done!

The last four days have been nuts. For those of you that are hearing about this for the first time, I apologize. I just could not bear to update one more person.

Friday night the hubby was admitted to a heart hospital an hour away from where we live. Long story short, he did not have a heart attack. He has angina and some hardening of two of the arteries leading to his heart. The doctors think they can just treat it with medication.

Suffice it to say, the last few days have been full of driving back and forth, tears, taking care of what needed taking care, and just plain worrying.

I think we're all a little worse for the wear, but we have TREMENDOUS respect for this heart hospital.

The munchkin and I are home tonight. This is the first time I've felt like I've been able to relax in four days. I'm just glad the angiogram came back with the news it did.

Continue to think of us. We need all the help we can get.

Another item - check

I finished listening to The Turn of the Screw on my iPod today. What a surprising ending. You should all check it out sometime. That's all I've got today. The hubby is still sick so I'm on munchkin duty. More later. Or soon. Or something.

What to talk about

It seems like there's a ton that's happened, but as soon as I start to talk about it, I'll be bored.

I've begun a new ripple afghan. It's for the munchkin and made with the yarn you see at the right. It's called plum pudding and it a mix of pink, light purple, and a darker purple. I'm using some purple from my stash that I think worked better than the purple Red Heart has out right now. It's progressing slowly because it's completely single crochet. I had to take a break from it this afternoon because it was making me crazy.

The hubby is sick...again. He's having a birthday on Wednesday. I'm not sure we'll even celebrate because he's been so sick. Ny-Quil is the order of the day. I'm beginning to think that I should have bought stock.

Our remote from Dish Network bit the dust Saturday afternoon. After a call to them and talking to a wonderful representative, we got remote 2 programmed to work for TV 1. And we know how to switch it back and forth until the new remote arrives. Kind of a pain, but when you're as addicted to TV as we are, you do it.

I've been reading a lot lately too. I finished Slaughterhouse Five for my book group. I'm reading a really cool book right now called By A Lady. It's built on the premise that a woman trying out for a part in a play about Jane Austen's life travels back in time and meets Jane Austen. So far it's been really interesting.

Physical therapy on Thursday was very rewarding. I've been moved to only two sessions a week and my upper body was in alignment. After doing a round of exercises, so was my lower body. Now, to keep them that way.

I've been using my iPod a lot. I use it at work and at home. I'm actually beginning to make some headway in the podcasts I listen to regularly. I'm catching up on back episodes. It makes me feel like I'm checking something off my list.

I guess that's it. More as I think of it. Hope you all have a great week!

Bliss

The wonderful, darling, delicious, superb hubby grants me one weekend day each weekend to sleep in. This weekend, since he's been having trouble sleeping, he gave me both days of the weekend.

Now that's love. At a time when he could have asked me to take over for him so he could get some extra rest, he gave it up so I could sleep. What a man!

Log Cabin is finished

Here's my finished log cabin afghan. It took me so long because I had to take a medically indicated hiatus in the middle. But it is finally finished.
I must say it is disturbingly square for what I imagined it would turn out to be. The finished product measures 54" x 58". I used up quite a bit of my scrap stash on this one. Of course, I'm still left with a ton. But I'm making progress.
I don't know if you can see it or not, but there's an edging of reverse single crochet around the edge. No matter what I did, the pictures of it didn't turn out. But it is my new edging of choice.
